Isabelle Walker: Ballet Artist and Instructor

Background

Isabelle Walker was raised in Bentonville, Arkansas, and is a passionate ballet artist and instructor. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance at Brigham Young University (BYU), where she is actively involved with BYU’s Theatre Ballet Studio Company (TBSC). Her notable performances include classical and contemporary works, with one of her most rewarding experiences being in George Balanchine’s “Walpurgisnacht.”

Training and Experience

  • Formal Training:

    • Began at Dance Etc. in Boulder City, Nevada.
    • Continued at the Northwest Arkansas Conservatory of Classical Ballet (2014–2020) under Jennifer Davis and Mariah Bordovsky.
    • Received pre-professional training via the Royal Academy of Dance.
    • Achieved High Merit and Distinction in official examinations.
  • Performance Highlights:

    • Annually performed in school productions and The Nutcracker, with a favorite role being Clara.
    • Invited by Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye, the artistic director of Oklahoma City Ballet, to attend company rehearsals and understudy roles for NWA Ballet Theatre (2019–2020).
  • Advanced Studies:

    • Attended The Joffrey Ballet's summer intensive and the Martha Graham School in New York City.
    • Studied at the English National Ballet School in London and the Paris Marais Dance School.

Future Aspirations

Isabelle plans to pursue graduate studies with a focus on using dance as a tool for healing and connection. She is particularly interested in working with youth in underserved communities to provide access to the transformative power of movement.
