Introduction

Erin Hutchings Malan is a passionate ballet director and educator who has made significant contributions to the field of dance. Her journey in ballet began at the age of 5, and she has since developed a rich background in performance, teaching, and choreography.

Early Training and Performance

  • First Ballet Experience: At age 5, Erin's interest in ballet was sparked by attending her first performance.
  • Initial Training: She trained at Jacqueline’s School of Ballet in American Fork, Utah.
  • Professional Experience:
    • Joined Utah Regional Ballet’s second company at age 14.
    • Danced with Utah Metropolitan Ballet from age 18.
    • Performed in classical productions such as Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Coppelia, The Nutcracker, and contemporary works by renowned choreographers.
    • Toured internationally and at Regional Dance America Festivals.

Education and Advanced Studies

  • Bachelor of Arts in Dance: Ballet emphasis from Brigham Young University (BYU).
  • Master of Fine Arts in Ballet Teaching and Choreography: University of Utah, focusing on contemporary ballet.
  • Notable Teachers: Studied under distinguished instructors like Darla Hoover, Alan Hineline, and Alonzo King.

Teaching and Choreography
